The lecture by Chairman Dave at Kyoto University
On January 15, Mirai no Mori Chairman Dave Paddock was given the opportunity by The Organization for the Promotion of International Relations to speak at Kyoto University as a guest lecturer. The event, now in its second year, was organized by Professor Nagamori. This year’s theme was “Creating possibilities for at-risk youth in a global society.” During the event it was clear by the looks on the students’ faces that they were filled with strong emotions and the willingness to strive for a positive future. As they listened, Dave spoke about Mirai no Mori and shared his and his team’s passion.
As the world becomes more connected more opportunities will open, and with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics approaching there will be a great demand for talented and skilled individuals. Mirai no Mori would like to support and nurture young children so that they have a chance to spread their wings. With warm hearts we hope that you will support Mirai no Mori.
Success stories video production
Mirai no Mori would like to spread the word about our organization to as many people as we can. In order to receive the support of the public, we are currently making a video showcasing what we do.
The first part of the series is about “The success stories: the impact we make on the campers.” It will include interviews from the care workers and campers as they share their experiences of camp in their own words. We visited institutions in Iwate and Tokyo, and successfully conducted the interviews. Luckily, no one was camera shy.
At the institution in Iwate, about 30 children participated in English camp games with staff members Jeff and Matt, before having the interviews. They also sang their favorite camp songs and the children promised to remember the lyrics of the song before they arrive to camp this summer. While at the Tokyo institution, a camper from last year reunited with his team leaders and shared fond memories.
Mirai no Mori is thankful for everyone’s support and we look forward to sharing our video with you soon!
Summer Camp 2015!
We are currently preparing for our 2015 summer camp!
Last month we sent out the invitations to the campers from last year to this year’s camp.We are looking forward to another fantastic summer camp with the returning campers and first time campers joining us.
This year will be Mirai no Mori’s third year in operation, and we are now into our sixth season of camp.
Some of our campers have been coming to camp for five years now, for a total of 25 days at camp. Meaning that they’ve spend almost a month with us!
Not only is the camp a place for fun memories to be created, it allows campers to gain a collection of experiences. Whether they experience fear, difficulties or unpleasant bug bites at the camp, knowing that some of these experiences help young campers grow and develop for their future gives us faith to continue with this year’s camp preparations.
