Camp Staff are the most important members of the Mirai no Mori team. Your enthusiasm, understanding, and caring will create an experience that kids will remember for the rest of their lives.
As a member of the camp team, you will be responsible for the supervision of campers, preparing them for and guiding them through a wide variety of exciting activities, as well as supporting all aspects of operations in order to create a smooth-running and successful camp.
Many of our campers come from difficult backgrounds and some have been the victims of abuse or neglect. The patience and kindness you show is essential for campers to open up and get the most of their experience.
We are seeking hard-working, fun and energetic, English-Japanese bilingual staff of any nationality.
・18 years of age or older
・Available for all training and all camp days (see detailed schedule below)
・Capable and comfortable communicating in English and Japanese
・Serious dedication to helping kids have a blast and make the most of their camp experience
Plusses, but not requirements:
・Previous experience working with kids in a camp environment
・Outdoor skills (hiking, camping, etc.)
・Teaching or leadership experience in outdoor settings
The Mirai no Mori camp team consists of 4 different positions: team leader, Leaders in Training (LIT) coach, camp manager, and activity leader. We will assign one of these to you based on your preference and position availability.
Team leader: Team leaders will have 5-8 campers in their own team to supervise.
LIT Coach: An LIT coach will work primarily with our high-school aged campers, to mentor them and empower them with the tools and skills they will need to act as leaders and role models for the younger children.
Camp Manager: This position is the foundation that allows the camp to happen. These staff members will make sure that campers are fed on time in a fun environment and set up activities so that campers will have a great time.
Activity leader: This position is in charge of setting up fun and meaningful activities for campers. This person will welcome campers as well as team leaders into English fun environment, which is one of the Mirai no Mori core values.
Schedule (may change depending on camp assignment)
・Mandatory Training (on-site in Miyagi ): July 28 –30
・Camp session 1: July 31 – August 4
・Days off (unpaid) ON-SITE: August 5 – 6
・Camp session 2: August 7 – August 11
・Days off (unpaid) ON-SITE: August 12 – 13
・Camp session 3: August 14 – August 18

Mirai no Mori will provide paid training on-site before the camp session begins. Attendance is mandatory. Our professional training is designed to help you be a more effective camp team member, and will make your own experience much more enjoyable.
Camp Staff are paid 10,000 JPY per day, with training days paid at half salary. NPO Mirai no Mori will provide full room and board, as well as cover transportation costs between the Tokyo / Kanto area and the camp sites.
Note that days off are NOT paid.
Volunteers will also have their room and board covered by Mirai no Mori, but will not receive daily wages. Although this compensation would not be provided, we would truly appreciate your support even as a volunteer.
