Back to Nature

MORIUMIUS Collaboration Camp

Location: Ishinomaki, Miyagi

Date: December 2-3, 2017

Participants: 5 MORIUMIUS campers and 5 Mirai no Mori campers

Program:

Earlier this month, we collaborated with MORIUMIUS to do a joint camp. MORIUMIUS is an organization that provides children with educational encounters in a natural environment in order to develop their future. The camp’s theme was “Autumn, Winter, Life” and during the camp we learned the concept of sustainability. We collected chicken eggs, prepared locally caught salmon, and harvested salmon eggs. We also got to feed the pigs that provide us with their meat and the chickens that provide us with eggs. By collecting and preparing our food and also feeding the farm animals, we learned about the interdependent relationship we have with nature. On the last day, we enjoyed a hike in the woods.

It was a fun and educating new experience for our campers and staff. We would like to extend a warm thank you MORIUMIUS and Qatar Fund for the opportunity to collaborate on an awesome camp. We hope to be able to collaborate again in the near future!
