Our Programs
Our Programs
At Mirai no Mori, we offer both residential programs and one-day programs to help children unlock their full potential and build on their growth over time. These programs are thoughtfully designed to provide continuity in their development, enabling them to take meaningful steps toward brighter futures.
Residential Programs
Our multi-day residential programs, held during summer breaks and weekends, immerse children in team-based activities. Unlike their structured daily lives, where adults make most of the decisions, these camps empower children to take charge and work together to enjoy all activities. This setting allows them to experience the value of teamwork and communication, with some naturally stepping into leadership roles.
Returning campers shine by mentoring first-timers and serving as role models. Through shared camp life and outdoor activities, children develop self-reliance and responsibility, from managing their daily routines to caring for activity equipment.
In this supportive environment, children build trusting relationships with peers and staff, enabling them to take on challenges they might usually give up on. This unique blend of learning and growth creates the transformative experience we call “Camp Magic.”

Campers embrace new challenges by spending 4 nights in tents with children from different care homes, learning about collaboration and responsibility. |
The stream hike is one of the most memorable activities of Summer Camp, where campers push their limits and motivate each other through an 8km adventure. |
One-day Programs
Our monthly one-day programs, such as hiking, crafts, forestry, and rafting, allow children to explore new interests while continuing their growth. Volunteers from sponsoring companies join these activities, serving as role models and mentors. Through regular participation, children are exposed to diverse cultures, values, professions, and lifestyles. These interactions help broaden their horizons and inspire them to imagine new possibilities for their future.

During the kikori programs, campers connect with nature in new ways through hands-on activities that support the healthy growth of the forest. |
The rafting programs happen shortly after Summer Camp, acting as a great touch-point with campers and an opportunity for them to apply what they’ve learned. |
Leader in Training (LIT) Program
This year-long program is designed for high school-aged youth, focusing on their transition to independence. Participants take on staff-like roles during monthly programs, shifting from being supported to providing support.
The LIT Program also includes workplace visits, where participants explore different industries and workstyles, and workshops on practical topics such as project management and public speaking, equipping them with skills for life after the care home. These experiences help them build a realistic understanding of professional life and instill confidence as they prepare for independence.

LITs are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones through opportunities to practice public speaking in Japanese and English. |
Understanding the roles and responsibilities within society by visiting our corporate sponsors helps LITs envision their path towards independence. |
Graduate Program
The Graduate Program supports former campers and Leader in Training participants after they leave their care homes, ensuring Mirai no Mori remains a “home away from home.” Graduates participate in activities that inspire their own growth while giving back to the community. They volunteer at our outdoor programs, serve as role models for current campers, and contribute to charity events, gaining a deeper understanding of Mirai no Mori’s mission while forming meaningful relationships with supporters. Workplace visits, workshops, and internships provide practical skills and opportunities to help them navigate independence with confidence.
We aim to offer graduates a sense of connection and community, tailoring opportunities to meet their evolving needs as they transition into adulthood.
