Winter Camp

Winter Camp 2018 Report

Location: Nagano

Participants: 20 campers from 5 different homes, 5 LIT, 6 care workers

Date: January 4-7, 2018

Program:

Winter Camp 2018 was a success! Day 1 of Winter camp kicked off with campers reconnecting with fellow returnees and the camp staff, and also welcoming the first time Mirai no Mori campers. In the afternoon, the campers enjoyed some time in the snow outside, some of them for the first time ever! Despite the cold, it was a lively afternoon as we played our hearts out in the snow.

On Day 2, campers went on a snow sledding adventure! Everyone showed kindness by encouraging fellow campers and cheering each other on, especially those who were sledding for the first time. That evening, many campers stepped out of their comfort zones to speak up in during English night.

The famous MOlympics was held on Day 3! All the campers put their best foot forward to work together with their teams. The games were followed by a snowshoeing adventure to see the frozen waterfall. Then later that evening campers had to gather their courage to go on a night hike.

In the blink of an eye, we arrived at the final day of camp. During this camp, the 5 LITs did an amazing job of stepping up as leaders. After a lively closing ceremony, it was time to say goodbye to the snow. Many of the campers and staff acquired new experiences and priceless memories to take back with them. Looking ahead, we will continue our weekend programs and we kindly ask for your continued support.

Thank you to our Winter Camp 2018 supporters and sponsors who made the magic happen. Big thank-you to Knights in White Lycra from Nagano!
